I saw the new Honda City i-Vtec in January in Auto Expo 2008(Pragati Maidan, Delhi). Back then, only a few speculated that it will arrive in India. Even the company Honda didnt disclose it until 2 months from its launch. REASON: its OVERLY stunning looks. If Honda would have announced its launch earlier than what they have done, people would have simply postponed the decision to buy the ongoing City variant.
I saw the video of new Honda City on youtube and I was simply impressed but I feared that the company may fiddle with its look. Ironically, when I went to the nearby Honda showroom, I didnt observe any change except for alloy wheels which is not an option in any of the 3 variants being launched in India. Apart from that, its a gem. With an advanced i-Vtech engine, more interior space, next generation looks, more BHP & displacement I think that its a winner all the way. Moreover, the tail lights have been designed along the lines of a BMW car.
I was planning to buy Honda Civic but the decision has been rightfully changed after looking at this beauty. However, the company hasnt discontinued theold City as the new variant costs well over 8 lacks on road.
The company has brought the following variants in India:
1) City 1.5 E MT - Rs. 7, 70, 000
2) City 1.5 S MT - Rs. 8, 20, 000
3) City 1.5 S AT - Rs. 8, 90, 000
The above are the prices in Delhi(Ex-Showroom).
With people going crazy over the new City, one has to book it well in advance to get the delivery in a week or 2. The grey color City is my personal favourite as it matches well with the front grill. Not only will it mend decision of people going forold City and Civic, it will effect the sale of Toyotta Altis and Chevrolet Optra for worse too.
