Honda snubs customers. Obnoxious dealer.

I bought a brand new HONDA CITY 1.5V MT at Sundaram Honda Coimbatore on 31st Aug 2013, vehicle bearing chassis no: MAKGM25AEDN404841.

I had placed a complaint at the third service about the headlight fadeout to the above dealer and asked the dealer to take the issue to the manufacturer, I have proof for this, but the dealer didn’t even have the courtesy to take the issue to the manufacturer. He gave no heed to my complaint.

Now it has been 21 months, the fadeout has so worsened, I’d filed a complaint with the Honda through their website, and was told that it is not a manufacturing defect, to say the least I was shocked to hear this! Clear cheating I couldn’t digest this, I assure you with my personal expertise in this regard, the headlights weren’t touched since it was bought – actually the headlights were quite smoked the time I had bought them apparently I had been handed a faulty unit; it shows the irresponsibility of the manufacturer in not recognizing the manufacturing defect, the premium price and the poor quality doesn’t match.

You see, I am a technocrat, Automobile machine tool designer and manufacturer, I wrote to the Honda and asked them to prove through a third-party technical arbitration on the case. Let me see how they respond to this.

Previously I owned a Fiat Palio, trust me when I say this, Fiat products are one of the finest – I had a Palio for close to a decade with zero issues. My conscience now shouts at me for deserting Fiat! I now contemplate on how to get my hands back on a Fiat.

Edit

On 20/05/15, I was reached out by a representative from Honda, a polite and responsible one. He saw through the history of the issue and suggested to first try to resolve through a buffing of the headlights, post the buffing the issue has been resolved and the lighting is brighter than how it was when I had bought it. I see that the headlights are of Fibre and not of Glass, this perhaps is the reason behind the fade out. Manufacturer must take note of this.

I quote a mail that I had sent to Honda on 20/05/15

"It was warm to receive your mail, and as requested I’d be taking the car to the dealership later today. although this would be the third time that I take the car for the same issue down to the dealership.

There are certain issues apart from that of the Headlights that I’d like to take to your note.

Dashboard and wiper reflection; there’s reflection of the dashboard and wiper onto the windshield and this would annoy any driver. This happens both in the day and in the night.

First gear will not engage when you come from second gear, it will engage only at below ten kilometre speed.

If you increase the engine idling speed by 100 to 150rpm then it will be very comfortable for city driving, when moving the vehicle in the first gear; is it possible to increase the idling speed?

Fuel in the petrol tank whenever goes below Full tank, while parking, the vehicle’s large quantity of the fuel makes the vehicle to reciprocate(moving forward and backward), this irritates me, it shows there’s no compartmentation in the fuel tank.

Suggestion: As per your design keep the engine idling speed that is set low to achieve the fuel efficiency but design accordingly such that when the clutch is pressed the engine’s idling speed immediately increases to 950rpm or more, it will be very useful for city driving. Consider this.
