I got a new Honda City ZX idsi about a month back. Before zeroing on this one I did a lot of research as to which car to go for. With the likes of the optras , fiestas, aveos and accents in the market it wasnt easy as to which one to go for. Finally after test driving these I opted for a City ZX. Though it was about 50, 00 to 1 lac expensive than similar cars, it is worth your hard earned money.
Well so lets get to the car itself..
Starting with the exteriors, this car looks quite cool. Also the design of this one is futuristic. When you have this one parked alongside others, you see that there is something quite different in the lot. But that is what I say. Looks are a personal choice
Coming to the interiors, they are unmatched in its class. The quality is also quite good and honda has done the best utilization of space here. I am 6’3" tall and I fit in the rear seat comfortably when the fornt seats are put back to the max. I would however suggest that if you are going for the gxi model, do get the seat covers as they are easier to maintain. The factory fitted music system is also pretty good. The boot is also quite huge ie 500 liters more than even cedia which is 490.
Driving this car is an immense pleasure. Though the output of 77 bhp sounds low but it is enough. Of course you cannot use this car to race. And while driving you would not feel much of a difference. Compare it with an optra which takes 5.1 seconds from 0 to 60 kmph having 104bhp to the city which takes 5.5 for the same distance. I am sure this figure would not make a difference when it comes to normal driving. The handling of the car too is unbeatable. With a turning radius of 4.9 m and a super light steering, you can drive in the city traffic with ease. The suspension of this car is also pretty good though one has to be careful while driving on bad roads. The bad speed breakers can touch the floor at times.
Now coming to fuel effeciency. This is what makes this car truely great. Nothing to beat it in this class. The figures that I would give you are a little less than what you normally get. This is because I have only completed the first servicing. Before the 1st service, the car returned 13kmpl on city traffic with a/c on. And the city traffic I am talking about is when it is at its max ie the office hours. After my first service I took this car on the highway. The highway was not a highway in the true sense for about 60% of the roads were quite bad and on those stretched I could not go abover 3rd gear. The only stretches that were good were the toll roads on UP. Overall for the whole trip, it gave 15kmpl with a/c on. Those figures would improve after the next two services.
Overall I would say that it is a very good buy. Honda as a brand is far more reliable. This fact is quite evident I think and I would not waste space here to write about the reliability of honda. The only problem I think is that the electronic mirrors are prone to thefts. I know quite a few people who are facing this problem.
I was writing this review just a few days after I got the car but later on I thought I should write it after a highway drive and my first service. That would make the review more useful for the people who read it. Readers do post your comments on this and let me know if any other information needs to be given in this review. This review may sound somewhat exagerated to some since I have hardly mentioned any negatives about the product. But thats because either the product is too good or I havent used it enough that the negatives come out..
