Did you know that the recommended fuel 91 Octane petrol for CIVIC sold in India, is not available in India. Hence all those colourful brochures with all those claims about fuel consumption, Power, pickup etc will never be!
My experience:
I bought CIVIC in early July 2007 from Ichibaan Honda, Mumbai. At the time of delivery I was told to fill petrol as soon as possible because it had hardly any fuel at the time of delivery. I immidiately asked for the quality/brand of fuel recommanded for the car. As usual nobody knew about, and the manual from my car was refferred and I was told to use 91/95 octane petrol. I immidiately told them that such a fuel is not available in India and also made a note on the feedback form that the company should take the car back(I had not yet taken delivery). As all of you have experienced! I brought the car.
After about 20/25 days(in July) I received a feedback form from Honda siel, where I mentioned about the issue and returned to the company.
I had already forgotton about, and suddnely in December I received a call from the dealer, she tried to explain me that the car has been specially adopted for Indian conditions and that is why. To which I did not agree. She also clarified that the complain was just received yesterday(after 5 months). Next day I received another call from dealer(service manager). He saidall these imported cars are like this and your feedback form at the time of delivery must have been closed at some level within the dealership!
Next I again received a call from dealer wheatherdid someone call you or not?
Next day I received a call from Delhi wheathersomebody called you from Ichiban?
I am waiting.
Surprisingly, Honda does make engines for 88 octane(fuel in India) for Pakistan.
May be that is why TOYOTA sales more!
