TOKYO - Honda Motor Co. announced Thursday it will recall 63, 000 cars in Japan for faulty brake switches and speedometers.
The recall involves 22, 881 Civic and Civic Hybrid produced between September 2005 and December 2006 as well as 40, 218 Stream manufactured between July 2006 and January 2007, the company said in a statement.
The company recalled a total 20, 000 Civic and Civic Hybrid in the U.S. and Australia for the same problems on Aug. 30, the company said.
I personally think that any day, its better to trust the Toyota(Corolla in India).
Comparison with the Corolla.
Civic offers 2 yrs / 40, 000 km warranty
Corolla offers 3 yrs / 1, 00, 000 km warranty
service: Civic - 5000 km / 6 months
Corolla - 10000 km / 1 Year
Maintenance / Spare parts: Civic is very high compared to Corolla.
Acceleration / speed / pick-up . : Civic - 132 bhp @ 6300 RPM
Corolla - 125 bhp @ 6000 RPM
But when you really compare the Power to Weight Ratio, Corolla is faster than Civic( 0-100km), but at 0-150 km Civic is faster than Corolla.
both Corolla and Civic offers the same minimum ground clearance: 170mm. But I really wonder from where exactly the minimum distance is calculated from. Civic touches eachn every speedbreaker on the road most of the times and if 2 or 3 people are sitting at the Rear seat, you really need to be damn slow when you drive across through thebest indian roads.
But Corolla, to my surprise. takes you through any bad roads.
Since Civic was concentrating more on the looks, had to compromise on the distance from theTyre to the Flare . its very low and you have to be extra careful if the roads are little bad.
Mileage: there is atleast 2 - 2.5 km drop in mileage for the Civic. and if its the Automatic version, its even worse.
both cars equipped with Power retractable mirrors, but Civics -coz of the design leaves us with lotsa scratches on it even if youcompletely close the mirrors.
Civic offers poor on road visibilitycoz of the low seating position and a very big dashboard.
turning Radius: Civic - 5.4 m
Corolla - 5.1 m
Boot Space: Civic: 404 litres
Corolla: 430 litres.
there is no Lumbar support in Civic.
and what was really surprising was, itz the same OLD SOHC TECHNOLOGY which Civic is still using eventhough some magazines claimed it to be two generations ahead of Corolla.
Corolla is loaded with TWO Camshafts - 1 for intake and 1 for Exhaust.
