Poor quality and excessive tyre wear out

My woes started when after 6 months of purchase and having driven 18000 Kms I was shocked to see that the tyres had worn out. On taking up the matter with your dealer they agreed to change all the tyres free of cost. I thought that they must have corrected whatever problem in the car. But this was not so. The new set also got worn out after similar mileage. I have now  reconciled to getting tyre changed every 20000 kms. Today my car has done 95000 Kms and its my 4th set of tyres. This is problem No 1 . But matter didn’t end there. The woes continued.

Problem No 2

Then the coatings on the door trims, steering wheel and the gear shifter knob started wearing off. The car has just done 80000 kms. The interiors have become tacky because of this. The leather at bottom of gear shifter has frayed at the edges. This kind of quality was not at all expected and is shocking See attached photos

Problem No 3.

The ignition  lock started giving problem. The key started getting stuck inside. The dealer said the lock shall need replacement. I have not come across a car in my 20 years driving where an ignition lock get spoiled. Even Ambassadors and our Fiats were better. Anyway I had already become a fan of Honda quality so I no option but for go for a change.

Another revelation-  this lock is not in stock and shall take 15- 20 days to come. Wow – Honda expects 12 lacs premium car to be locked up for 15-20 days because the dealer does not have stock and the Company cannot make available a spare so vital before 15-20 days.

Problem No 4 - The rubber bush got weared out in 20000 kms and  first the dealer expects me to replace the entire assembly for Rs. 10000/- but on some arm flexing he agrees to change the rubber part only for Rs. 300-400.

All these issues are not isolated to me alone. I am in contact with at least 2 more people in my circles who are facing the same problems.

I shall never recommend a Honda Civic to anyone.
