I bought new Honda Dio 2012 version two weeks back and if I have to describe it in one word, its just awesome!
First of all, honestly speaking, it is the smoothest two wheeler I have ever rode.Engine is typical Honda, that is extremely well refined, smooth and powerful. No offense but other manufacturers should take a clue from Honda about engine development and refinements.
Pick up is good and it handles very well in traffic. Cornering is easy and comfortable and turning radius is smaller than other scooters so it makes easy to drive in congested areas. Ground clearance is 160mm, I think it is highest in all scooters in India. So dont worry about touching speed breakers.
Tubeless tyres, parking lamps, combi brakes are nice additions. Fibers and body parts are well finished and of good quality. But new 110cc Honda engine is a real gem! I have not calculated exact mileage yet but will update it here as soon as I do same. Honda has claimed 15% more mileage than previous Dio version but I am yet to see if it really works.
Only one think Honda need to take care is about suspensions. They are average and Suzuki and TVS are providing better suspensions(telescopic) in Access and Wego respectively. This is the only drawback I have felt in 300kms of use till now. I will still give 4/5 to comfort because real issue comes only when you are going from bumpy and very bad rode otherwise it is very smooth.
Coming back to Dio, it has a sporty feel all over it, from engine firing to design. Oldies may lot like it much but I am sure it will get lot of love from youngsters as in case with old Dio. I am enjoying riding it! At 50K(5K lesser than Hondas own Activa), this new Dio is value for money product.
PS: Added pictures of my new Dio. Its a matte axix grey colour. As name suggests, its a matte finish, totally different from glossy colours we see everywhere. It catches attention very quickly and it is easy to maintain as well. Previously, matte finish was only available on TVS Apache.
Finally, just want to say, whichever vehicle you purchase, drive safely and responsibly. life is precious.
