I own a matt grey 2012 model of Dio.The Odo has crossed over 2000 Km and recently did the second servicing.Though initially I had few problem with honda dio but now I am perfectly happy with the product.So m giving my honest review here.Below are some pros and cons what I felt...Please dont expect any vehicle to meet ur expectation for the first 1000 KM.Because the engine require 1000-1500 km to get smooth and dont drive more than 50 KMPH for the first 1000 KM.It will spoil ur engine and then you will start complaining @ the vehicle.
Positives:
1.MILAEGE: Before 1st servicing I used to get 35 KMPL.But after the 2nd servicing now m getting avegare 48 KMPL in hyderabad traffic.Did not check in highways.Once I put Shell extra premium and I got above 50 KMPL.Some people comlaint @ poor milaege.I believe thats because of poor driving habit and maintanance.I always used to drive between 40-50 KMPH and used to service Dio on time and keep it clean which gave me a decent milaege.
2.PICKUP: Great pick up.Respoce to acceleration is awesome.Also it has great power and so many times I drove with 2 friends sitting with me.
3.STYLE: No doubt dio is the best looking scooter available in the market today.
4.GOOD BATTERY: Initially I faced issues with self start.But after 1st servicing I never faced issues with self start.For those who complaint @ battery should kick start the vehicle when u first start the vehicle in the morning.And also keep the chock open for 10 second before starting the vehicle in the morning.Surely you wont find any issues with dio’s battery.
5.TUBELESS TYRE: Dio is the only scooter comes fitted with tubeless tyre.So this is a plus
Negatives
SUSPENSION: I felt like all above positive are of no use because of poor suspension.You can consider Dio as a no suspension scooter.I can feel even the smallest path holes.So for city ride dio is good but for rough road dont go for dio. Hope honda people realise this and come up with telescopic suspension.
ENGINE SOUND: I heard @ smooth engine sound for honda vehicles but never felt that till date.The engine sound not at all smooth.
CHEAP PLASTIC BODY: The vehicle vibrates @high speed because of cheap plastics used.Since professionally n Mechanical Engineer so I could see various cost cutting approach in selecting cheap and low cost material for the vehicle.But using a plastic body has a plus.It makes vehicle light weight and gives more mileage than metal body.Also cost of replacing body parts is less compared to metal parts.
HONDA SERVICE. The worst servicing honda guy used to do.They will just wash the vehicle. Don’t even change the oil.So make sure you personally present when changing engine oil and atleast put Rs 100 to the guy who will service your vehicle in honda service center. Then you wont be having issues with honda vehicle.
PROBLEM FACED TILL DATE:
- Few nut and bolt got loose after 2 days of purchase.Fixed in first servicing.
2.Oil leakage after 1 month of usage.Fixed by honda service center immediately.
3.Mileage was less initially.Fixed after first servicing.
Although the vehicle has few issues but it has more good things @ 54000 price tag. If you can maintain your Dio properly and drive properly, it wont frustrate you for sure.
