I own a Honda Dio which was purchased four years back. Though I had a Car , I was on look out for a two wheeler which will help me to run daily errands and also help negotiate city traffic. Pre – requisites was space , storage and a really good machine.
After a lot of market study I went in for a Honda Dio. She is a black beauty & looks refreshing. She has till date clocked about 16, 000 kms and is still going strong.
My experience with Honda Dio over last four years has been thrilling. It’s a 102 cc scooter with 7 bhp hence packed with just the right power and performance. It has both a self start and kick options. The engine is the best , time tested and is carried forward from its sibling Activa. It has been delivering me a consistent average of about 43 km / litre and no complaints till date . The scooter is capable of touching a top speed of about 78 km / hr.
Build quality is excellent . Fuel tank capacity is 6 litres thus giving your scooter a range of 250 km plus. It offers a front glove box and a under seat storage which are immensely useful. The scooter has push to cancel indicators which are convenient operate. Dio has amazing road stability even at high speed in excess of 70 km per hour. The design and looks are excellent and beats any other scooter in India. The service support is very good and parts are readily available at reasonable price.
If you own a Dio , Do service your Dio regularly. Ideal frequency should be on completion of 3000 km or 3 months whichever is earlier. Servicing should be done at Honda Service centre. The technicians here are trained and well qualified to solve your compliants in shortest possible time. Use fuels like Power , Speed or Extra Premium as they not only increase the avearge but also help keep engines clean. Maintain tyre pressure. The front and the rear brakes are equipped with brake wear indicators. If the arrow mark on the brake arm of the wheel aligns with the reference mark on the brake panel with full application of brakes then the brake shoes must be replaced immediately.
Now the flip side and a wish list - I would have loved to have some more power and top speed on the scooter. Electronic odometer display would set the scooter miles ahead of the competition. Side stand indicator is a must from safety point of view. Under seat storage illumination will help in the dark . Suspension can be telescopic for a smother ride. Panel rattling is observed at times to which Honda needs to find a solution . The positioning of the headlight looks amazing but the light & focus itself seems a little weak.
For all those who are thinking of buying a Honda Dio .... I would recommend you to go ahead. Its got the best engines , its got the stability , its got the refinement , its reliable , its Honda .... Its one of the best you can buy !!
