I bought a Honda Shine in 2008 falling for Honda’s marketing gimmick that Shine gives 70kmpl. There were competitions in the dealer’s premise KUN Honda Adyar, Chennai, for the highest mileage stuff. Maybe few hundred bikes are fitted with engines which can give 70 plus mileage as it claim.
But believe me, I have never got more than 41 or 42 any time in HONDA SHINE right from 2008, in spite of complaining to Honda Service during my Warranty period or Extended Warranty period and to outside service stations as well. Still it is not exceeded 42 kmpl. Comfort wise or look-wise it is nothing great as compared to other bikes like Hero Honda splendor or Bajaj Discover etc.
