Friends,
I write this review after using my own ETERNO for a couple of months.
When I first visited the showroom of HONDA, I was taken aback as I hardly saw a single customer for ETERNO for every 10 who were looking for ACTIVA or DIO models. Further, I did not come across any ETERNO on the road while I could see scores of the other models. Yet, I took the decision of buying ETERNO and I am quite happy with my decision. ETERNO is stable, silent and yet powerful. The seat is very comfortable. It is horizontal unlike the slanting seat of some other model.
Of course, the changing of gears cannot be avoided. It runs best in the fourth gear at 45 to 50 KM/Hr. It is a bit heavy and bulky and pulling clutch requires some effort. Thus, it is best for gents who do not mind changing gears and kick starting the bike. I also find that the lighting is not too powerful.
The major advantage is its mileage. I got an average ranging between 56 to 58 KM/Litre so far in city driving. Thus, the projection of manufacturers at an average of 60 KM/Litre is realistic for longer runs. I really wonder how some claim an average as high as 70 KM/Litre.
Finally here are some suggestions for the manufacturers. It looks that a battery and button starting have not been provided to keep the cost low. However, considering too many halts and delays at traffic junctions in cities, the facility of button starting should be offered as an add-on option. The width could be reduced a bit so that parking in narrow slots would become easier.
