The Jazz is now a very well rounded package with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. Its efficient and offers excellent practicality and space at a very competitive price tag. The second generation Jazz has completed a year of being on sale in the country. Over the period, it has clocked over 40, 000 units in sales, contributing close to 26 per cent to Honda Car India’s overall numbers. I find ourselves in Jaipur, ready to put the Jazz through its paces one more time, but this time around, have some fun with it as well. The design does have interesting elements, such as the gloss black grille, the lovely 15-inch wheels, the spoiler and the vertically stacked tail lamps, all giving the Honda a bit of character. The Jazz seemed like a hatch that echoed similar sentiments about space. I tested the ‘magic seats’ out in a race against the clock, using different modes to accommodate potted plants, and a bicycle; and made a makeshift bed, too! I put it through a tight slalom course as well, that the neutral steering and high seating posture made easy to negotiate.
