This is my first review regarding my Honda Shine I bought in June first week. Disk-Alloy-Self.
This vehicle has very good pickup and pulling. I feel very good driving comfort on this vehicle. Driving is also very smooth.
It has very good breaking. Front is disk, both front and rear are very good when apply. Its handling and control is also very good. Performance is good.
It’s self start is very sensitive, kick start also. I never faced any starting troubles even in morning cold conditions except once or twice when I didn’t take the vehicle for continuous 2-3 days. Otherwise it gets started for first kick and gaining pickup immediately. In the initial few days, it had some pickup problems when I take the vehicle in morning, after that it became OK.
It gave me a mileage of 55 km in Bangalore city conditions before first service. After the first service, mileage sevierly dropped. Now it is giving me only 43km in Bangalore. Is this normal after the first service for any vehicle, or even shine? I have to go for second free service next week, I need to complaint this.
If we go above 70km, the driving won’t be much smooth, vibration will be there.
Here are the major problems(engine/gear perspective) where I faced for this vehicle.
A small hitting noise from engine when I turn the key off. After driving for few distance, if I turn the key off, before engine stops it gives a small noise like hitting on some plate(a small’TIK’ sound), but clearly audible. I complained this for the first service. But not fixed. After first service I noticed this again. They told it is there for all vehicles. I’m not sure!. It doesn’t happen always, but most of the time it happens. I need to complaint again for next service.
Before first service I faced some gear shifting problems. When the vehicle becomes very slow, just before stopping in signals, if I down from 4th to 3rd, I was not able to down the gear further to second. It was struck between 4th and 3rd. To get rid of this, I had to leave the clutch or put 4th again and then down all to reach 1st or neutral. However, the problem was there for only few days, now it is not there. Another problem observed once in a while is when shifting up/down between 2nd and 3rd. It used to struck in between and makes some loud noise when continue driving. Finally it comes into position with some cracking noise. It happens very rarely, but the problem is still there. No action was taken for gear shifting problems also even though I complained for first service.
Even though vehicle is somewhat good, I feel Honda service is bad. For my first service I gave 4-5 complaints to be fixed including the above and with some other small complaints. Wondering me, NONE had been fixed. All were there as itself after service and they made an additional complaint also!
Before purchasing this vehicle, I had tried other 125 CCs also which are available in market. After taking test drive on other vehicles, I felt this better. From my past 2 months, experience I feel this vehicle good. One can definitely go for this. Its overall performance is good.
