That was April 2011 and I was desperately in search for a new bike and Shine was the bike that attracted me. Yes I am a proud owner of Honda shine. With lots and lots of choices I ended up with nearly 4 options in my mind. They were Shine, Unicorn, Discover and Pulsar 135. Now I want to share my 3 beautiful years of Shine experience with you all.
My requirements were not like most young guys to choose a Sports bike or something else. After riding so many of my friend’s bike, my opinions and thoughts were very clear to choose the right bike for myself. I always wanted to have a good looking, better mileage, more standard and best service. Finally it was Shine that made my dream come true.
Looks: looks of shine are built with simplicity. Not much heavier neither lighter in weight, it has a good balance even for a smaller person. The height of the bike makes everyone to seat comfortably. It came up with various editions and different colours like black with red stripes, geny grey metallic, rebel red metallic, vibrant blue metallic and black with grey stripes but mine was the Black colour Honda Shine Alloy(125cc)
Engine & Performance: it has a optimax engine with 125cc which was introduced with Honda shine, the speciality of this technology was it ensures full fuel for maximum mileage and power. This was the major factor that I considered to own this bike. It’s a 4 stroke bike as others and has a 10.3 bhp and can produce 7500 rpm which was more satisfactory for me. On an average it can reach 0-60 kmph in just 5.5 seconds. Coming to my major worry, mileage – still it gives me around 52-56 kmpl.
Handling & Riding: my favourite part, it has got an enhanced rich experience for everyone to ride on shine. Riding on shine is always been very smooth and I just love it. Handling is very easy as you can predict that the bike is averagely weighted. But vibrates in over speeding. Comfortable two seating makes me more pleasure to ride this bike. Gear shifting in heavy traffic is always cool with no trouble. Please do not expect great pickup from shine but still its considerable with other 125cc bikes.
Some Cons to Consider:
Bike produces enormous vibration if it exceeds 60 kmph
If service is delayed, it keeps you in trouble.
Chennai service centre is horrible(keeps waiting for at least 2 days)
Conclusion: With nearly 63000 kms of Shine experience in three years, heart fully I would like to recommend this bike to everyone who has a budget of around 50, 000 rs. It costed me around 55, 000(on road price). I keep on servicing regularly at least once in three months, which make my bike to shine all the way. Finally its more valued for the money that you pay for it.
