HI friends,
Its been 5 years since I have been driving my shine and recently I got engine problem only because of my negligence, I have not done oil change since 5 months which resulted in partial damage of engine, so I am planning to sell it and get new Yamaha bike and now I want to share my 5 years experience with the bike with you. I dont want to complicate the things in my review, I just want to make it simple for you guys. So I am dividing my review into five sections: Looks, mileage, pickup and maintenance sections.
Looks:
In my opinion, it looks like a family bike.
PICKUP:
The initial pick up of the bike is superb, which makes it a excellent city commuter. We can notice a minimum sluggishness with pillow rider, which is negligible but the real problem is faced when you want to push the vehicle over 50 kmph, once you accelerate the shine over 50 kmph, you can start hearing the engine screaming and the vibrations are more apparent once you cross 55 kmpl and from there onwards the engine is never at easy, its screaming, vibrating, no real progress though you can take the Shine to 80 kmph.
You can get good performance and long engine life if you can drive the shine under 50 kmph.
==MILEAGE:
==Pickup segment reveals much about mileage, yes, you are right, the shine will give a good mileage, if you can go within 55 kmph.
If you go in 80% in traffic and 20% in open road, maintaining a average speed of 55kmph speed, you may get a mileage of 50 kmpl. And if you go in 80% high way and 20% traffic maintaining an average speed of 60 kmph, you may get a mileage of 55kmpl.
==MAINTENANCE:
==Another big issue with the Shine is its maintenance, I have been regularly changing the parts of the vehicle. I have change Chain kit twice in four years, Side indicators are delicate, a small impact is enough to break them, disc breaks wears out in just one year, I have changed all the four shocks. And the real twister is you wont get the spares readily available in the market, the showroom people many times saying no stock, so a waiting even for spares.
Conclusion:
Buy only if you are a sedate driver who drives below 55kmph, its not for the riders who drives around 65, 70 or above speeds.
Thanks guys for reading my review, I hope it will surely help you in your purchase decision.
Best of Luck.
Take care,
Bye
Nags :)
