Unicorn - My choice

At first sight: Unicorn is my choice. No doubt. Because I wanna be a wing rider. It is the best bike in its segment though Pulsor twins compete with it. I am going to buy a bike for the first time. When I went to Honda show room, the great Unicorn bowled me. I cannot escape from it without buying it. I thought to buy at first sight. But there is no availablity. I have to wait till Jan’05(Oh god!).

My Testdrive: I kicked it once. Amazingly it started but I could not realize that it started. I keep on kick n kick. The engine is so silent that it makes no noise and better controls sound polution. Gear shift pattern is good just like Yamaha. Smooth switching btw gears. Some problems with moving btw 1st and 2nd gears.

Monoshock suspension is simply superb. You simply wont come to know that you are going thru speedbreakers or jiggy road unless you see them. Bike control is good. You won’t observe any backpain at all. Headlight is good. Tail lamp is excellent though it is borrowed from Karizma. Looking the bike from side angle, makes flat anybody. Nice pickup. Reasonably acceptable mileage(but not with the current petrol prices :-)). Colour finishing is good. I like the Blue anyway though Red Unicorn dominates all the other colours.

Though the bike appears like Pulsor in shape and size, it is little lighter than Pulsor. The weight is manageble.

Problems: The major problem is e-start. The bike has not equipped with electronic start.

Honda should think about this issue with respect to competing with Pulsor twins. It would be very great if Honda launches with e-start by Feb or March. But the dealers told that as of now there is no surity that Honda will release Unicorn with e-starts in the near future. But Honda should realize that e-start is an essential device just like Speedometer.

Horn is not good but we can manage it with replacing. Last but not least is availability of bikes. There is huge demand supply conflict. Probably the bike is being manufactured somewhere out of India(don’t know exactly). Thats why the demand. I have been asked to wait till the end of Jan. At least 2 months is required to get the bike delivered :-(
