Unicorn- clocked 14002km.. read to believe it!!!!

Hi Guys,

Don wanna eat much of ur time but just wanna convey one thing to u’ll-- Honda knows its objectives and goals as a world leader of bikes..!!

To start off pls pls don ever ever condemn or put down a honda or any bike for that matter when u write a review!!.. atleast pls do mention that such and such ammendments have to be made to such , such bike. No bikes perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well to start off I bought my unicorn from bangalore and this was one of the first ever pieces to roll in to bangalore. mind u I am talkin bout the first 8 bikes to roll in and I took delivery of the second one!! of course just ignore the stares and the queries asked coz u can be answerin them all day.. ( model- oct 14 2004 blue) I drove the bike without a number plate for one week!! and beleive me I belted the mind out of those ’’city honda’’ guys (dealer) for a temporary chit to the police askin for pardon if I was checked. REASON_-no stock of number plates!!!!!!!!!

Well about myself I just LOVE bikes!!!!! my parents think am crazy but u’ve gotta ignore that. earlier I had a CD- 100 ( hero honda) made by the very hands of the japanesse gurus!! it is a 1986 model and there’s only honda written on the engine!! not ’’hero......’’ well the engineering involved in these bikes is top notch. not to boast I personally hav sat ’’behind’’ a HONDA CBR 600RR which one of my close friends have. this one is masterpiece, u know why its autographed by rossi and only 12 in the world one existing being in india. WEll u can mail me if u guys r just interested in the bike info..   ’’colinpete@gmail.com’’

Well where was I Ah!! I finished my first service of my unicorn within 23 days of delivery!! clocking 845 km!! Mostly done on ring roads with constant 60km/hr at 4000-4500 rpm. clerly meaning no strain on the engine. my first service was just sad!! coz I had to hunt for a good service centre since most of them were reporting the fact that lack of appropriate tools. one service station quietly wacked of one free service coupon from my booklet. (Name not mentioned) I have done 14002 km after 13-14 months of havin her!!

Coming to the engine, unicorn has a jewel of an engine rightly said by OVERDRIVE mag. the engine delivers amazin power so quietly and swiftly!! 13.3 bhp at 8000 rpm.. thats class man!! the air jacket helps in cooling very effectively which u guys won know if u don carefully observe. thr roller rocker arm also helps in reducing friction!! the main point which they should consider is the introduction of a self start at the launch of a new nike. atleast as an option. this is to all makers. honda has lost few customers coz of the non availability of the self start. this is true!!!!!!!!!

coming to the seating arrangement’’ hats off’’ to the designers and to the R&D team at honda. really comfortable and one can drive all day!!

the stability is also unmatched by any other bike in its segment. full thanks to the employment of the mono shock suspension. when on highways I do 85-95 km with doubles and only giving little more than half throtle!! this bike does constant 85-105 km doubles depending on gradients. I hav personally maitained 80-105 km fluctuating on constant stretch of 95km!! and at this speed the bike gives 57+ for a litre when compared to the city of 50-52 km per litre. Beleive me the suspension at high speeds is a CLASS ACT to mention. it doesn throw u off balance when hitting hard or deep pot holes. not to mention that the front fork suspension grounds quite badly. Thats because of its softness. same thing on the fiero!! unlike the Pulsar which has a stiffer front fork suspension.

the unicorn rides on MRF zapper tyres (rear) and MRF zapper-FS (front). good for city drivin but pls pls try and get a slightly wider tyres when ur on the highway!! coz at high speeds the factors such as control and braking matter a lot and with wet wheather u gotta be extra carefull coz once above the 80+ mark the question of control is quite wobbly!! in dry wheather one can kick the bike up till 95-100km but after that the tyres make the diff!!!!!

I hav personally done 112-115 km for a few seconds with the rpm blazzing away at 7500+ and I still had little more throtle left on her but the tyres were a bit of a worry at that speed. TRUST me guys on this point NEVER try and floor ur throtle when ur rpm is already at 8500+ coz ur pistons r most likely to wear out at that speed!! Am talkin in terms of durability of the engine. I beleive the engine is the heart of the bike and one ought to take care of it!! TRULY!! ’’servicing pls do not compromise!!!!!’’ Not to forget bout the clutch its an absolute beauty!!

First 1000 km pls don throw her around!! Allow her to mature and then the life of ur bike is guaranteed!! TRUST me GUYS.

U’ll must be thinkin as to whats happened to the styling part of the bike. well all’s to say is that honda has played safe with styling coming out with the bikini fairing. the tank is real good. Hav you noticed closely the paint finish is also superb!! the tail lights r a beauty!! THE HORN pls pls don talk of it my friends!! its a pity. what the hell r activa horns doin on her!! look carefully they r activa/dio horns. I envy when a pulsar horn honks behind me when am at 90+ km..

This is to all new investors- pls pls go in for the self start unicorn coz I know how much I miss it!! I heard that the unicorns come out with new graphics!! gotta go nd check it out.

SEE ya guys stay in touch..
