Honda - Power YOUR Dream

Hi Folks,

4-March-2005, since when I got myself this fabulous machine (sorry “HONDA”). This is the first bike I have purchased in my life and what made me go for it was the magical name that says it all - ’’HONDA’’. I have heard owners of anything “HONDA” say it with so much pride ’’I Own a Honda”.

Design

Honda has invested its Moto Think Tank to make a really attractive, lean/mean machine for the Indian streets. I own a black model with the “golden wings” logo on its tank. It’s a really sexy, lean design which is not a sore on the eyes.

Performance

I power it using Speed 93 to get the feel of the beast roaring under me, although it makes no difference in the mileage, it does affect the pick up of the bike. At most signals I am the first off the mark and go quite a distance before others catch up. The engine is really silent and its exhaust tone is not loud and harsh.

One ’’feature’’ (problem if you wish) which I learnt the hard way is that the engine is so lean tuned by Honda for fuel economy that when the engine is cold it takes usually 5 minutes for the engine to come into peak performance. This I learnt only after a lot of hard research and liasoning with the vendor. However the right setting of the air screw combined with this knowledge makes the machine fault proof !

Riding Comfort

The mono suspension is simply a dream. I weigh 80 plus kgs and stand 6 feet tall, however this machine just takes me over the famous Mumbai roads like ’’Maska’’. The seat shape and ergonomics make it for a complete stress free driving. With me sitting comfortably there is ample space for the person behind as well.

However it’s a sports bike model and not a cruiser so beware its not one of those long haul bikes for the back !!

After Sales Service

The service centers are a real pleasure at Om Sai Honda in Malad.

The CONS of the machine –

I guess I am not qualified to find any technical problems in a Honda, hence I will gladly skip it.

The looks are really plain and simple. But there are some areas of improvement.

The fuel tank lid is a real eye sore - taken straight from a Hero Honda bike along with the splendor mirrors ! :(

Honda could have a Unicorn+ model with alloy wheels and a sexier fuel tank lid. This along with its sexy shape and mono suspension would truly make this the best bike on India roads.

The horn is too mild for India. I guess Honda has followed international sound levels compliance regulations for its design. You are forgiven for asking “what’s that” as an Indian.

If you really want a bike for motoring pleasure and technical marvel then trust Honda to Power YOUR Dream !!!
