Before I write further on my experience with Honda Unicorn, it is pertinent to give a brief background on my biking experience. I am a 30-year old professional, and have been driving two-wheelers for about 12 yrs now. It all started with a Bajaj Chetak , progressed to a Hero Honda Splendor, graduated to a Yamaha Rx100 and experimented with a Bajaj Pulsar. I guess that was the end of all the fun...... :(
After having used my Pulsar for about 4 yrs and 30k kms, I decided to sell it off as it lacked the comfort, and I hated the vibrations. As I was not bothered about the looks, RTR160 didnt impress me too much( though it costed a little lesser) and I moved to a Honda Unicorn two years back, the grey-black version with alloy wheels from "Pashankar Auto", Pune. No doubt its was the most comfortable commuter bike in 150 cc segment, with a smooth engine.
I dont ride the bike too fast and usually stick to speeds below 60kmph. Little did I use it for a few kilometers, when I realized that the bike used to slip while negotiating turns, and go wayward, even while driving in a straightline. Needless to mention, this happened at speeds aorund 40 kmph or less. I took this up with the dealer twice but everytime he took a test drive and convinced me that there was nothing wrong with the bike, after keeping my bike for a whole two days.
Feeling cheated, I had no other option but to drive the bike ensuring minimal usage. Still, the bike actually slipped and I met three accidents, the first two being minor ones. But the third one caught me bed-ridden for 2 weeks, and I finally decided to sell the bike after having driven only over 5k kms.
I didnt want to get into legal hassles as I got no time for all the procedures, but this review is a warning to all those who plan to buy a Honda Unicorn , and that too from "Pashankar Auto" at Pune !!
I know I may be a one-off case who had such problems, but just in case... guys beware !!
