Unicorn-First test drive-Impressive Challenger

I was invited for just a test drive through a good invitation card by Didar motors of chennai yesterday...Here goes the review...

Test Drive: At Didar motors, Anna Salai, Chennai.

Bike:- Unicorn..// Engine: 149.6 CC..//

HP:- 13.3 @ 8000RPM..//

Pickup:- 0-60 in 5.8 Seconds..// Fuel efficieny: 51 in city and 54 in highway(Believe me this will be nearly true)

Even Honda Dealer promises 50 Avg to be on the safer side..so should be 55 Avg according to me//

Gears:- 5......1 down and 4 up..//

Gear Box:- Excellent..I had no problems at all..it was very smooth and coming to Neutral was also so excellent..

Colors:- Red, Blue, Black, Grey and Metallic(But I could see only the red, blue and black) I just had a test drive of UNICORN..the first bike launched by HONDA in India.....And ofcourse we cannot just ignore that name HONDA..as many would be knowing the reasons for that.

The bike was so smooth and I was just amazed at the pick up without any sound..Good performer I believe the bike is a bit taller compared to PULSAR..may be the same like Fiero F2. Not very sure..But the body is very broad..I mean the seats are broader and let us come from the front...

The headlight is a powerful Halogen I believe its a 60W light...the styling comes from the Karishma’s one.... And the shocks at the bottom are good..I had to bend and sit to view them..I strongly believe that the balancing will be far better than the other dual side shock absorber brief found in others.. And the most STRIKING of the bike was the shock and the front 3 pod meters...a bigger Speedometer in the center..a fuel guage on the right and the rpm meter on the left.

Demerits:

  1. No electric start

  2. The look is not so fascinating like a pulsar..not so shiny tanks..Paints are good but lustre is not so good

  3. To reduce costs below Pulsar..the measures they have adopted are introducing a mono shock instead of 2, quality of hand grips are not that good(I feel so), absence of Electric start.

But still with the Demerits too it is a very good bike compared to Pulsar...as bajaj engines cannot stand the internationally acclaimed HONDA..the engine again proves that..no doubt their experience comes in...

Anyway I am waiting for the DISCOVER from Bajaj stable as this promises to be too good in 125 cc category...which will be out on roads shortly
