I have bought my Red Unicorn just three months back and let me tell you, I am absolutely in love with it.
After contemplating for quite some time, I had 2 choices...CBZ Xtreme and Unicorn. You must be wondering where is Pulsar: I hate its shape and the way your private parts are at risk for its ill-shaped tank. Anyway, I dont want to talk Pulsar here!
I came to mouthshut .com for reviews and also asked some owners, even a stranger I happened to meet at Hero Honda. The satisfaction in Unicorn owners all across was way beyond that of any other bike owner.
After extensive research for almost 10 days, test drives and consulting, I decided to buy the Unicorn. And I smile for my decision as I write this review.
I did not have much experience of city driving(I am currently in GURGAON), esp of the kind you have in here. A test drive of CBZ and Unicorn showed the latter as a very smooth bike. The bike starts up to motion so smoothly, you never risk hitting the next vehicle in bumper-to-bumper rides in the city traffic. CBZ engine on the other hand is jerkier. And the pickup here, so solid, and smooth at the same time that you will definitely be the first one to reach 60 after the lights turn green! The most important in such case becomes the gear change. Take a test ride, no bike has smoother gear controls!
I am very tall, and Unicorn is the tallest. Need to say more? An upright sitting posture, not bent forward like the Apache. You risk your back there and was not a choice for me as my back is already as risk! (I am an IT professional).
Coming to looks, the very masculine tank, brilliant streamline body which Pulsar is not turning towards, and Red with black alloy wheels is a sure eye-catcher. Trust me, all the gal-frens of mine immediately said SMART BIKE when I said I have got Unicorn! You see the advantage? ;)
The mileage, what better do you want than 46-48 in the city full time, and with winters around, lot of wasteage on choking and engine warmup?
More on controls, you literally never take your feet to the ground, unless you really want to! And you would never realise the heaviest bike in the segment is the most comfortable to handle and manouevre! And your doubt, the mono suspension, it definitely transmits much less to the riders! Far beyond any kind of NITRO shock absorbers. I will not get into technicalities here.
It comes with a saree guard as standard fitment, so married men, no worries ;) And you also have that little doc holder to keep some docs you need to carry along with your bike on the road.
Last but not the least, the dealer I got it from, has brilliantly organized sales n service. Absolutely no complaints far. They call you up to remind of your service due dates. They sell, and they maintain too! By the way, did I say I received the best response at the Honda dealer when I went to inquire.
Enough or you shall get bored.
Before I close, if you are thinking of something in this segment, dont make the mistake of choosing any other bike.
Happy Unicorning!
