Unleash the Human Within

It has been long that I was contemplating to write a review on Unicorn, but the urge to gather more experience stopped me. Now it has been almost seven months that I bought the bike and feel that I’m ready to give an unbiased opinion. And so here it goes.....

Unicorn is the first bike directly from Honda and has original Honda engine. With the increased disposable income, 150 CC bikes have become very common and Unicorn is a value for money in 150 CC segment. It is consistently giving a tough competition to Pulsar (though I’m proud of Bajaj) and has great looks.

Now some facts and figures...

Facts:

Original Honda 150 CC Engine.

1.3 litres reserve capacity.

Puncture Resistant rear wheel.

Monoshock absorbers (First Bike in India to have these).

On road price Rs.60000/-.

Claimed mileage of 60kmpl.

Features that I liked/inbuilt/experience

Unicorn gives the best mileage in 150 CC category bikes, in Hyderabad traffic it is giving me a mileage of 50 kmpl which is decent. Also I have touched a maximum speed of 105 kmph after which bike starts making little noise.

Maintenance cost of the bike is quite low and I have not faced any major issues with the bike.

Problems that I faced/inbuilt

The shape of the petrol tank gives a good look to the bike but makes last 1 litre of petrol useless.

The chassis/engine is too low and makes a noise (due to obstruction) when crossing speed brakers.

Again rear brake makes weird noise whenever pressed while taking a turn.

No a proper place to fit the helmet holder, but that is not a big concern for me as I prefer to hold the helmet.

I had problems with the battery of Unicorn as electric start stopped working within two months. However this was more of battery problem than the bike problem.

Overall the features of the bike are great and is a value for money.
