My new Honda Unicorn ... it rocks

I booked my Honda Unicorn from Saphire Honda Bangalore. Got delivery withing 25 days, coz  Red color gets delivered faster than black or grey. I got my bike delivery on August 1st week 2010 and completed 2000Kms so far.

Completed my first servicing at 500Kms and now waiting for the second service at 2500kms. It costed me around 71.1k on-road and including accessories came to 73.1k. Now coming to performance of the bike, yes its a trully majestic bike, ride is smooth, handling is good, but suspension is not that great. Let me put in points which we expect from a bike.

1) Build- It looks solid build, though the plastic parts does not seem that solid, but not much issues

2) Ride- The ride is really smooth and I think no bike in 150cc range can really beat this

The engine is really calm and cool and never seems to be in hurry and we will really see the smoothness in long rides but pickup is not that great compared to Pulsar or a Apache or CBZ, coz this is tuned for more mileage. This is a bike which starts smoothly and quietly and once its picks up it really flies all the way

If you really want great pick and something sort of a racing machine , this is not the bike for you, you can

better settle down with a pulsar or apache

3) Handling

Though bike looks quiet huge and bulky , believe me handling in traffic is much easier, to be frank the best when compared to other bikes.

While maneuvering through traffic we never feel like we are riding such a huge bike, since the response of the bike is really gud in all ways.

The weight of bike is also uniformly balanced making handling much better

4) Suspension and comfort

Now suspension is where I am not that happy with. Though this is a mono-suspension and supposed to be something unique and great, I think its not that upto the mark when compared to other bikes. The suspension is very stiff and in couple of long rides I used to take quiet a number of breaks in between. Other than this in comfort section nothing much to comment Oh yaah forgot, positioning of handles are really good and ideal for long journeys, compared to other bikes with sporty handle position.

5) Economy

Now this is a very important factor. Yes this bike does give a mileage of 55 plus minimum in cities which I feel is not bad for a 150cc bike

6) Looks

Now this is totally personnel

Many people say honda unicorn is outdated .. I cannot understand why ..... I think they are just bothered about the looks and the fact that Unicorn has not gone much changes look-wise since it was lunched.... but I think Honda knows very well that its not required...it will sell in huge numbers anyway with the same styling.

For me I am quiet happy with the styling and do not need fancier than this. Indeed I really hate the shapeless styling of CBZ and yamaha FZ ... or in simple words over styled.

Again looks are personnel.

Verdict:

===

Excellent bike with a good engine refinement. Not much cons except suspension, not sure whether it will improve after second servicing.... hope should improve.

In simple words its a all rounder bike .... I recommend it to everyone, who are expected to treat their bikes decently and with respect.

Zipping around like hooligans .. no this is not urs.
