Hi All, As I promised that I will write a full review on Unicorn here I am with my review on my own unicorn. As now all are familiar on Specification of bike I will not mention all those stuff or else some one want to know then they can find on many other review. I got my Uni-Corn Grey shade on 9th April and it was not at all good experience after going few kilometers from showroom I stopped at petrol pump to refuel and I found that there is a small dent on tank I took a U turn and rushed to showroom and reported same a the sales guy told me not to worry come at first service and we will resolve the issue I was bit upset as and now almost a month and first service done dent is still there without any work done on it when I went for my bike 1st service they told that Painter is not there today so we cant do that you bring some other time and for same I have kept it today in showroom.
Now about my experience of bike Unicorn is no way a very big deal I think I had expected too much from Honda so might be I m not 100% satisfied with bike but I think this is case with 70% wing rider’s. Engine is too smooth and silent, handling is good look’s are good at least I like it thinking to replace regular wheels with some good alloy wheels. Fit and finish is good though rattling sound from bike rear portion irritates on bad roads and which are common in Pune. My bike had a specific problem before 1st service after going above 60 kmph if try to stop and try to shift gears u don’t find success gears use to stuck and u need to bring bike at almost standstill and then only you can change gears, also there are too many false neutrals which irritates a lot specially when you want to accelerate at signals. My gear problem is resolved after 1st service but now engine has lost its smoothness and u can hear a loud knock while changing gears, engine noise has also increased and over all performance has gone down and I am lot disappointed with all this issue. I have left my bike at showroom for all this problems and for the cute dent on the tank. I am not sure this issue will be resolved or not but I have decided not to give bike for servicing at Pimpri showroom but now I don’t trust any Honda showroom and I think Honda should address this issue soon or else it will be a big problem.
Bike is really good at pickup but if you are getting an mileage of 60 and engine ideal speed is adjusted at 1000 rpm then you will not find any thing great the ideal IDEAL speed of bike should be any thing above 1500-2000 rpm for good pickup and which was there before I got my bike serviced. Earlier I used to get mileage of 52 KMPL and now I am getting 55KMPL but it doesn’t worth as engine has become hard and performance has degraded. Though Bike look big in size and is also heavy tank is too small and more smaller is the horn which can’t be heard in heavy traffic. Honda has missed many minor things there is no trip meter nor its fuel gauge performs with 3-4 liters petrol in tank also it doesn’t responds and you always stay under fear of running short of gas before you can get a petrol pump. Though handling is good sometime you can feel rear tyer loosing grip especially on turns and on some ruff roads.
Top spped I have achived till now is 95 KMPH now the bike is done with 1st service I am thinking to explore the real top speed. Coming to a general theory I will say that Unicorn has not succedded in beating the real hero in 150 CC Pulsar with the new alloy wheel version Pulsar hits hard and I m seeing too many new pulsars on road everyday which makes feel proud as an Indian point of view because Honda is still far behind to beat Indian rival Bajaj. Pulsar duo are giving tough fights though being in market from long time no matter unicorn is bike of the year it cant break the original craze which Pulsar has created in 150 CC segment. Summing up all Unicorn is one of the Best bike in 150 CC performance wise but Don’t draw a big picture in mind before going for it or else you will be disappointed. Bike is really good and smooth(if the mechanics at showroom wish to) Its also fresh compared to Pulsar. So be a wing rider with short WINGS.
