I am 27 year old working as Project engineer in the Space Organisation of India.
Three months back, my interest was to buy a bike.
I am not a regular rider till last month. even though I started to ride
geared bikes 5 years back, I occasionally ride the bikes. So for I
rided Splendor, Yamaha CRUX and Honda Unicorn from my friend two years
back.
Initially I thought to buy simple 100 cc bike like HeroHonda CD Deluxe. Then I understood the bike costs around Rs.40000/-. Then I went to HeroHonda dealer. I collected price details of all herohonda bikes. Then it clearly shows CD dawn, CD Deluxe, Splendor, Splendor+, Splendor NXG, Passion plus all of 100 cc kind costs b/w 40, 000 to 50, 000.
Friends suggested me to go for Bajaj Discover or Pulsar.Then I thought why don’t I go for higher cc like 125 cc kind. that
time, Bajaj XCD was catching the eyes of all in market. Intially I also
loved this bike. while seeing the bike in showroom, it was not up to my
expectation.
Finally I decided that the solution is test ride. myself and my friend went to Hero honda show room. asked for test ride of CD deluxe. the representative was very reluctant to give the bike. he told me Hero honda is the leading marketer in India and the bikes are well proven in roads, so no test ride is allowed. then I was trying to sit on the cd deluxe bike to feel the comfort of the bike, even for this also the representative not allowed me. He showed me HUNK recently released in market.
without satisfaction while coming out of show room, I was opposite to the Honda show room. then something striked on my head, why don’t I try honda bikes. then we entered honda show room. the first thing we asked to the representative is test ride of honda shine. immediately without any questions, the representative gave the bike for test ride. I drived for some distance rising bike up to 70 km/hr. the ride was very smooth. I was happy and came home with the thinking of buying shine.
after coming to house, I recollected my experience of riding unicorn two years back. then I thought why don’t I go for150 cc bike of unicorn kind. that time the bike was having spoked wheels, no self start.etc. immediately I surfed honda web-site. by understanding the engineering features and improvements made in HONDA UNICORN, then I decided to buy the bike.
Friends suggested me to go for PULSAR, having maximum choice in indian market. by comparing with unicorn, I felt even-though pulsar is attracted by majority. I ve not felt something special in PULSAR whereas in Unicorn. Mono suspension, Honda Engine, Tuff-up tube, stable riding etc. really made me to love the bike.
even without test ride, I purchased the bike on 04-01-2008, because I already have felt the performance of bike from my friend two years ago.
I purchsed black with grey stripes. I am riding at 40 km/hr in 4th gear, most of the time - occasionaly go to 50km/hr in 5th gear. so for I rided 650 km in 20 days. surprising fact is I am getting 62 km/litre milage, above the specification. riding is very comfortable. I am feeling I ve made the perfect choice. thanks to honda for improving the bike with sporty looks.
if honda can bring pure black models with sporty look, that will be even very nice.
