Now, I agree that cinema, or for that matter any creative profession, is highly subjective. Everyone has differing opinions. But I’m quite sure that no human being or animal could have possibly liked anything in the movie.
No character misses stereotyping. The Barbie doll Ameesha Patel is consistently deteriorating from Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, and she hits rock-bottom now! The so-in-love couple Abhay and Miniisha are an eyesore, even in their most graceful moments. By the way, did I mention that they are superheroes in the movie? You can physically feel the pain of mediocrity. Abhay needs to seriously consider getting a less glamorous job, like in a bank – and strictly a back-office position.
The emotional turmoil of the gay men is handled with such indifference, you feel like pulling your intestines out of your backside, and shoving it back through your mouth. Sandhya Mridul is expressive in parts, but it is unexplainable how she accepts her gay husband. Kay Kay and Raima Sen make an appallingly awkward couple. Boman Irani is the only saving grace, and even he overacts. Shabana Azmi is the same proper, refined woman she has kept playing for years together. Utterly boring.
Dia Mirza, Arjun Rampal and Ranvir Shourie were promising, so guess what, they get exactly 5 minutes of footage each. You can’t allow them to ruin a perfectly bad movie now, can you?
Songs come and go like the multiple os the director must’ve been having. There is no script to talk about, background music was scored by a drunk Goan. Even the extras have been horribly typecast. There are at least a million threads left hanging, it is scary even getting into them.
As I exited the theatre, I was filled with self-doubt, and my bonhomie was replaced my melancholy. Not over the lost money, but over how amateurs come and screw up an otherwise maturing industry. In all, this joyride of a movie has only one high point – the end. You’ll surely enjoy plucking your hair more.
