I have visited HongKong or HK as it is generally referred to a few times and each time I find it a new experience. Each time I went for sightseeing and once was on my way to China. The Chinese are friendly
people and helpful but extremely business oriented.
It ius a lovely place for a tourist. One can spend a week very easily sightseeing and still not seeing all og HK. the beaches, Ocean Park,
and a lot of otehr places are breathtaking and must be seen. The visits can be organised through the hotels or the tour operator. They will also take you to see the house of Jackie Chan.
It is ideal for electronics shopping - keeping a few things in mind - the rules and systems back home and beware of the bargain shops. Tshim Tsha Tsui area is full of electronics shops with no name of their
own but flash almost all the known Japanese brands on their boards. These will offer you the latest in electtronics at throwaway prices but you normally end up getting cheated. Never pay money first and then see
the product. Insist on the sealed box beng opened in your presence.
Food is a problem for Indians specially the vegetarians. But in Tshim Tsha Tsui there is a place called Chung king mansion which houses several Indian food spots including vegetarian so one has no problem
really as that is also a main shopping centre. You can even speak Hindi
there and Punjabi.
Of course hospitality wise they leave a lot to be desired. Indian
hotels are better any day. Their insistence on a deposit in case you make telephone calls is really uncalled for. unless of course my hotel was the wrong one.
On the whole I would love to go back any day. If I have made any spelling mistakes in the text specially the Chinese words, do forgive me.
