Dr Yogesh Pithwa, a specialist Spine Surgeon from HOSMAT HOSPITAL, Bangalore is the best. Here is my story:
I had upper back pains(on the right shoulder and back) for more than 8 months. I did gymimng and some exercises for that.
It did not improve in any way. I started Yoga. However I constantly had to use VOLINI/MOVE type of medicine regularly. Mine is a desk job, where I need to sit and work with my laptop for long hrs(10 Hrs avg). In Jan12 the situation worsened further. If I turned my head towards right, I use to feel dizzy and nouseatic. In feb12 we took a car trip to Munnar from Bangalore. During the trip due to bad road conditions, there was significant zerking. On 26th Feb12, the day we returned to Bangalore, my Right arm and hand began to pain(shooting pain sensation) and along with it it felt numb and tiggling at times. I waited for day for the pain to subside, however it did not improve at all. So on 28th Feb I visited HOSMAT HOSPITAL, a well known orthopedic hospital in Bangalore to get my right hand checked. Near the general OPD registration counter I saw a sign board saying that if paitients have back pain, and the pain travels down any limb causing numbness etc, the paitient should visit the spine clinic in Hosmat Hospital. As the symptoms were very similar to mine, I decided to visit the spine clinic there, where I met Dr Yogesh Pithwa. He checked me throughly and adviced I get a MRI done for the spine, and put me on some pain killers and nerve soothing medicines, temporaily till the MRI report was out. After couple of days looking at the MRI report, he confirmed that I have C5-C6 and c6-C7 disk prolapse. He said that the condition was really bad and may need surgery, however he first wanted to start with some conservative medicines, and see if the condition improved in any way. I took the medicines for about 3 weeks, The pain did not go away altogether. I had to travel outside India in April first week, so I was worried for that trip was important. I spoke to the doctor in lenght, and he suggested that the next step would be surgery and medicines were not effective, however I should be fine to travel after 10 days of the surgery, with proper rest etc. I got admitted in hosmat hospital on 23rd March, and was operated on 24th march. I would like to mention Dr. Yogesh Pithwa has been execllent during the whole procedure, giving us ample time and answering our questions patiently. We hear very often that spine surgey is one of the most complex surgeries, with possible future complications as well. However Dr Yogesh took us through the procedure he would follow in detail and put our doubts to rest. 24th March I was operated, and the whole procedure lasted for 4-5 hrs. I was made to walk on 25th March and then discharged on 26th March. Needless to say, the post operative pain was emmense, however it reduced rapidly with the medicines he gave me. On 2nd April my stiches were removed, and 3rd April I could go for my trip abroad. I was put on 1 month of medication. In the procedure Dr Yogesh removed the prolapsed disks and inserted two artifical metal cages with screws. Two months down the line since surgery, I am fit and fine, and resumed my normal life. All the pre-operation pain and complications are gone. I am not on any medication now, just some exercises Dr Yogesh showed me for strenghthening my neck muscles. I am lucky to have encountered Dr Yogesh and be treated by him. I have already recommended him to couple of my friends for similar back problems.
