I did a bit of research on the hotels in Madikeri via the internet and narrowed down on this hotel. The main reason I chose this was that I wanted a pool for my 4 yr old kid and I assumed that many homestays would not have it. All other resorts were more expensive.( I visited 3rd week of May). I travelled there with my wife and kid.
I took a package of 4000 per night as per their website. They have an office in Bangalore. I sent a chq to the Bangalore address and I got the voucher in a scanned format.
I drove in with aprehension on the sort of hotel and the type of rooms and was presently surprised with what I found. There was ample parking space within the hotel premisis and the Lobby was clean. The check-in formalities was fast. The room I was provided was enough for my needs. It was neat and clean. The bathroom was also tidy. The room had a balcony with a view. I had chosen a non-a/c accomodation.
The lunch and dinner spread was lavish. Lots of varities to choose from. It was pricey though. The lunch was at 275/- per head!
The hotel has some indoor games - a carrom room with 1 carrom board, a TT room with some old TT racquets. The kids pool is 3 ft in depth and the main pool at 5 ft depth. The Gym room is a bit old and can do with some makeover. I did not try out the ayuerveda center.
The staff at the hotel were helpful. The travel desk could do with some more thought. The folks at the desk can help you plan a bit. But they bank on the cab drivers that they will hire for you. They cannot recommend good resturants and eating joints on the way to Mysore, etc.
Overall, a good hotel to stay in for a couple of nights. The indoor games can keep you and your family engaged when the weather turns for the worse and you get constrained to the premisis.
