If you need to visit Frankfurt and would like to live away from the hustle and bustle of the city, or away from the sometimes-not-so-respectable-looking hotels near Frankfurt Central Station, here’s a good hotel run by a very friendly family. It is located at Maintal (Ost) (also referred to as Doernigheim). There are trains to Maintal twice an hour. The hotel is 5 minutes from the hotel. If you have a strolly, you can easily walk to it. So the Messe (trade fair) is very easily reachable from here.
It is just a little more expensive than it should be, but it is run by a very friendly family. Like so many hotels in Germany, this is a bed-and-breakfast place, and the buffet breakfast is sumptuous. You can stock up enough to last you through most of the day, if you have a busy day ahead. There is a Chinese restaurant next door to it, a supermarket opposite. There’s Italian and French cuisine 10 minutes away on foot and there’s a Walmart about 20 mins on foot. It’s basically Frankfurt without the big-city dirt. The air is definitely fresher. I’ll update this with the telephone number of the hotel in due course.
