Well.Where do I start?
OK.Lets start right from the time that I decided to goto Ooty with my Wife and In Laws to spend some time together.
I did some online research and got to know about this Hotel called Lakeview(It has a lot of views but I couldnt any damn lake from our cottage!)
So I called them up and spoke to a lady named’Shiny’ from the reservations desk. I told her about my requirements and she gave me the usual options about payments and she confirmed that she would basically put in a reservation under my name.
A day later I called them up again around 2 PM and wanted to get some info on payment from the reservations desk but.guess what.? They were out on lunch! So I called around 4 PM and spoke to some guy. After I told him about my conversation with Shiny the day before he asks me the Million$ Question! "Would you like to make a reservation?". Maybe these guys havent heard of something called’Listening Skills’!
Anyways instead of explaning the whole thing to him I agreed with him and made another booking. I also dropped a check payable to their Hotelthe very same day.
Of course 2 Days down the line the check cleared and I called up the Hotel to inform them about the same.
They asked me to send an Email with all the Details like Check Number etc.
So I sent them an Email and guess what?
I get a bounce stating "Email Box Quota Exceeded". I immediately called them up and informed them of the same. So they asked me to fx it over. So I asked my Wife to send across a Fax with all the details, For some reason she was getting an Error about the receipt of the Fax so she tried to send it a couple of more times.
About 30 Mins later I get a call from the Hotel staff saying that they have received multiple copies of the fax and were wondering why we resending them the same. I explained the Error message on the Fax and they confirmed the receipt of the details as well as the payment.
Thats just one part of the story.
Part Two starts off with us reaching the Hotel after a long drive from Bangalore. The guy at the reception colly shows me the Rates and asks if I need to make a booking. I look at him and tell him that I have already Emailed, Faxed and Telephoned my requirements and payment info to the Hotel multiple times. He then checks with the Accounting Team and confirms receipt of payment. Hallelujah!
Part Three - Check out Time. The same guy who had helped me check in then hands me a bill and asks me how I would like to pay!! I just could not believe my ears. Were the staff on an agenda against accepting my earlier payment or were just born ignorant? I calmly told him the whole damn story again( I wish I had more time in my hand otherwise I would have raised hell). Then he takes out a print of his banks accounts statement and guess what we discover? The payment which made over 2 Weeks ago to them!.
Damn I have never seen such incompetency in my whole life.
My question to the Management Team is - Did you guys by any chance recruit from another planet? Like Mars or maybe Pluto?
