I had been to Hotel Lakeview for a stay for 4 days last week. Overall, I liked the stay in this Hotel. I stayed in the Executive Suite which cost around Rs.1, 800/-+ Tax. The room was worth paying. The lay out of the room, Hot water availability, cleanliness were very very good. 1800 looked like a steal at this peak season.
The main lacuna in this hotel is that they are grossly understaffed. You never get food at the time you need. You should eat as per their wish. At a particular day I saw a waiter who served us early morning tea & Breakfast around 6.30 and the same guy served us Dinner at 9.45 PM. He even said that there were only two waiters in the Room Service to serve for entire 120 cottages. This stress shows in their service. They whine & cry if you call for the room service. You often hear from the order taker that "Why don’t you come to Restaurant Madam". If you refuse he would bluntly say that it would take 1.30 hrs to get the food. We had to order at 7.30 itself to get food at 9.00.
One other reason we stuck to Room service than the restaurant was that the ambience in the restaurant was not good. You always see some guests yelling at the waiter or the order taker. But that is the only way that you can get food fast. If you are sublime & soft you have to wait for your food for more than 1 Hour. You don’t like to eat food when some one is yelling at some one. Do you?
And more over you have few trainees from the nearby Catering college working there and you would understand the service that you would get?
I would not blame the Staff there entirely on this. No one would be ready to work for 12-14 hours of work. And they become non-responsive to any customer complaints. There were yellings at the Restaurant, Room Service, Reception . everywhere. But they just doesn’t seem to care about that. They are wearing " How may we have seen" attitude on their face and are laughing when the customer goes out.
However I read few earlier reviews and I felt that Housekeeping was not a big problem. They were responsive and they cleaned the room on all the days that we stayed.
There is a small play area for the kids and that was very catchy. And the privacy you get there is some thing divine.
