I stayed at the Megapode Nest Resort in Port Blair for 6 days. I had booked the hotel in advance based on some reviews and found the hotel comfortable and cosy.The resort has standard, deluxe and independent cottage styled rooms and the basis services provided in all rooms are good.
The housekeeping is efficient and provided to your needs. The rooms was well maintained and had all basic necessities along with a hot water kettle an a refrigerator. The same cannot be said though about the environs and a lack of upkeep of the gardens and the surroundings was evident.
A distinct government touch there.The food was good, tasty and well prepared. but for the kind of offerings it was priced on the higher side. Especially the buffet lunch and dinner were overpriced.One point to note was the very helpful staff at the resort.
They went out of their way to personally make me feel at ease. Two incidents to mention here.
Their Swipe machine was not working and one of their employees took me on his bike to the nearest ATM to help me withdraw cash to pay my bills. Imagine this happening at 10:00 pm at night in Port Blair.
The Taxi booked for my drop to the Airport did not arrive on time and the staff again made sure I caught my flight on time.Kudos to the efficiency and helpful nature of the staff.
I can safely say the Megapode would be my first choice in Port Blair, whatsoever is warts may be.
