After staying in Kolhapur for about 3 weeks and not finding a decent place for non-vegetarian food and drinks, me and my friend decided to give up the search. On the second last day of our tour, our senior joined us and since we had to find a good place to have some drinks and food, we decided to be a little more exploratory. And that is how we landed up at Rayson Regency, a place near the Kolhapur bus stand. Their sign is visible from quite a distance away.
With little expectations, we went to their bar and restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised. First, the ambience was very likeable(it wasnt like the other cheappermit rooms you find all over the city). Next, the rates were very affordable. Seeing that beer is available for 80 bucks in Maharashtra, the premium was only Rs. 30 more. But this being our luck, it had to run out soon. The waiter botched up out food order. Even the quality of the food is not worth talking about. The food service was late and whatever was brought to us was not very good. The lamb chilly we ordered was more like a bad chicken chilly.
Then they refused us our final drink because apparently the bar man had locked up the fridge and gone off to his own merry making. Finally, after a couple of drinks we had to leave the place because of the closing time. Next time you are in Kolhapur and looking for a decent place to have a cold beer(but not good food), you can probably give Raysons a try. But I would not recommend it to some who prefers to have his drinks with food that is complementary to the drinks, rather than a dampener.
