Recently on the long weekend for Aug 14th-Aug 17th 2008, me and my wife decided to go to Ooty. As most of the hotels were packed, we somehow got reservation in Hotel Sinclair, Ooty. We took a 4day-3night package which included Breakfast and Dinner.
Room: The room is fairly simple but neat and has a color TV, double bed, Cupboard, all standard things. The room was cleaned well everyday without fail, the bathroom were nice and tidy. Any complains(like light in bathroom went out) was looked at immediately. The room also has a tea maker, for which the tea bags etc are given everyday. The only problem with the room I think was the mattress, which I think is quite old and so I felt a little discomfort while sleeping. We asked for a room heater and the request was quickly looked into and we were given a room heater also.
Food: The is very nice at the hotel. The variety in the buffet is not all that great(idli, paratha, vada etc.) but whatever it is is prepared well and is tasty. I must say I liked the sambhar a lot there. The resturant staff is also vey nice and helpful, I wanted my tea hot, so they made sure they made fresh tea and serve it hot as the tea in the buffet had become a little cold. Both lunch and dinner was good.
Surroundings: The hotel also has a nice garden with a beautiful view of the valley. We spend some amount of time in the garden, it has nice ornamaental plant, beautiful flowers nice grass to sit on.
Travel Desk: Quickly booked us for a sightseeing tour, good drivers, also took care of booking tickets for the toy train to conoor.
Front Desk: Very curtious staff, ready to help check in and billing was nice and quick.
Overall a very nice experience of the hotel.
