Earlier this month I went to Delhi for some urgent work. My train reached the New Delhi Railway Station close to midnight. Therefore, I decided to stay at the Paharganj area which is very close to the railway station. I came across Hotel Viraat after walking for a while and it looked to be a promising one from its outside appearance. Moreover, the man at the reception appeared friendly, helped me with the luggage, and showed me the room. But what happened thereafter was not a good experience by any stretch of the imagination.
First of all, the room was quite shabby and was without a window. It was small for even one person and was not cleaned properly. The pillows were quite dirty at the same time. But when I asked the guy in charge of guest servicing to change the pillows on my bed, he at first refused to do so. It was quite shocking! However, when I told him that I would report this to the manager, he finally took the pillows with an expressionless, angry face. The set of clean pillows reached my bed after thirty minutes or so! Therefore, I felt that there was no point asking this guy to clean the room, and hence, the ambience remained shabby, dirty and unhygienic for the rest of the night.
In the morning, I ordered a masala dosa as my breakfast. However, it turned out to be extremely spicy. I could manage to eat only a part of it. There was nothing unique in the presentation as well. Moreover, the plate on which the dosa was served was not completely clean. Therefore, for all these reasons, I am not recommending this hotel. To simply put, it would not provide value for your hard-earned money.
