Hotel Yak and Yeti is a three star hotel in Durbar Marg. Its near the royal palace. It was earlier a palace of king of Nepal and now its being converted to hotel. We stayed here in April, 2015 just before the earthquake. So here is my take.
Its a big property with nice view. Rooms are old and vintage style.
Situated in the Durba marg and accessible to all major tourist places like Thamel, Basantpur sqr and Pashupatinath.
They have in house shops those sell antique pieces but are quite expensive.
The restaurant is good and they have very good range of breakfast which is complimentary. But the alacarte menu is very expensive. So we had our food outside. There are good Nepali food joints nearby and one Indian veg restaurant called Moti mahal.
The rooms are good, but you will not find any hand shower in the toilet. The room where I stayed(508) has a separate door which was closed. Dont know why.
The rooms from 530 unwards are very good. Inside of the room is made up of wooden flooring and brick like structures. Also, small patios inside these rooms to chitchat.
They have a piano corner in the ground floor and you can play the piano there. Cosy lounge.
The garden is beautiful and you can sit there and spend some quality time.
-The hotel staff are very courteous and helpful.
-Great parking area.

If you want to spend some quality time with your partner, its a great place. Good for family, couples and groups.
Price per night approx. 5000INR.
