This is just a short addition to the many comments contained within the reviews submitted by all the users of hotmail to mouthshut.I would be interested to discover whether others have had similar experiences to myself but let me tell you a story!
Along with many thousands of other people my introduction to e-mail was via hotmail. It did not take me long before I was lured away to some of the hundreds of similar providers of mailboxes and my hotmail site was left a repository for bits and pieces of junk and spam.I did however use the web space to store a lot of valuable information.
What they don`t tell you is that if your account is left dormant for 60 days then they will de-activate it and delete EVERYTHING ! (O.K.it was in the small print - but who reads that?)
My problem arose because of a variety of reasons, a holiday, pressure of work, numerous visits to the hospital and generally lethargy.Anyway I logged on one day to have my pass-word rejected. Why? Don`t know. This has happened before in the past and usually after a day I could log on alright. Not this time!I tried old pass-words and of course they didn`t work either although on some sites this course of action has worked.
Nothing I did seemed to get my pass-word out of hotmail-I of course followed the instructions for forgotten your password? but somehow zero results.
The 60 day dead-line was approached and according to their regulations my account was duly deleted.
Yesterday, just as a matter of interest I went to the hotmail site and tried to log on.Miraculously it responded to my pass-word and asked if I would like to re-activate the account, as though nothing had happened.I did and then tried to access stored info but it was well and truly gone.
Let this be a lesson to all hotmail users and I would ask if anyone who has had a similar experience with this or any other provider to leave a comment or to e-mail me about it.
