I was attracted to Housefull mainly because of its cheap prices. On checking the stuff, I could make out why it was so cheap - it was made of some rubber wood or some sort of plywood, which was covered with a very thin veneer, which was the thickness of adhesive tape.
Moreover, it is imported from Malaysia in pre-cut form, it is just assembled by their carpenters at your place.
So I had no misconceptions about this product: it would be flimsy, life may be <= 5 years, once the veneer came off, it would be horrible to look at.
We visited their showroom at Worli just before the Dassera/Diwali season. The shop was full of shoppers! People were buying/ordering stuff like furniture was going out of fashion!
We ordered a four-door wardrobe with a mirror, and a bookcase. The designs looked quite elegant, so we went ahead. The only mistake we made was to order two extra shelves for the wardrobe. The salesman warned us that it would take 3 weeks to supply, but we went ahead.
The furniture was delivered within 10 days, as promised. They opened the crates and checked the pieces/mirror in our presence to make sure there were no scratches/breakage. The mirror, I must tell you, is quite ordinary, full of waviness, not like the float glass mirrors.
The next day, the carpenters came in and assembled the stuff, without the extra shelves.
Then the wait for the extra shelves began! The weeks turned to months. We almost gave up hope. It was finally delivered and fitted almost 2 1/2 months later!
The major problem with this type of furniture is you cannot dampen it even one bit, otherwise the veneer will come off! Even if you keep a glass of water on it, it means trouble!
