Since I felt local carpenters are charging more, I made a request for carpenter to my new flat bathroom fittings like handles, soap trays, etc. The schedule was 11AM to 1PM. The carpenter didn’t come on time at 11AM, he completely ignored the request. After multiple calls he finally came at 2:30PM. I explained the work which suppose to take 90 minutes. He estimated and told that the price to do the fittings are 4600 rupees which is half of the price of all the material I purchased. I tried to understand the pricing model and asked him to make me understood. His reasoning was, the cost is based on the number of screws he suppose to fix in. On top of that GST. When I ask him the price is not realistic why should we pay 4600 for just 2 hours job? His answer was you booked online, its corporate service, there is GST, and we need to pay 25% for housejoy. Finally I said no, and sent him by paying 100 rupees. I called a local carpenter and get the work done by paying 1500 to him.
