HOW DID I DISCOVER MOUTHSHUT.COM
I registered for my first email in 1998 on flashmail.com, then on Yahoo, I started taking strong interest in Page making, so I registered in Geocities, angel fire, Aol, Tripod, Netomia, Xdrive and other site, in those days I used to do lot of search one fine day I was staring at the registration form for MOUTHSHUT in 2003, I authenticated the link, which claimed to let me write things on their database, I started with FEAR FACTOR, that review got posted under wrong category, I requested MOUTHSHUT to get my review deleted, that is how I began on mouthshut, I then put alerts and started watching developments on mouthshut thru my INBOX, slowly it took me another 2 months and a warning from MOUTHSHUT that my membership will be deleted due to inactivity which made me again become active on mouthshut. My first review got SOMEWHAT USEFUL rating and that encouraged me.
I was fascinated by the idea that there are people who are actually reading my reviews and finding them useful and I have an audience so to say! This is the biggest intoxicant I ever felt on cyberspace. I was elated and compelled to visit again and again mouthshut, I used to write my early reviews on the text box of mouthshut. I used to press submit button and there was this message “YOU HAVE BEEN LOGGED OFF DUE TO INACTIVITY FOR MORE THAN 10 MINUTES’’ save your review and post it again.
I took up NOTEPAD the most convenient word processing utility you will ever find on the internet, I posted my review of TOMB RAIDERS 2, that got me useful rating and some nice encouraging comments, that was what I was looking for, I changed my Alerts to just 2, one for my reviews read and one for my reviews rated. This gave me an idea what was the fate of my reviews on mouthshut.
I did not rate any review for a long time, but I took to heart that the rating is as important for the review writer as it is for me, so one fine day I rated a review (useful) I received 10
M2M messages from the angry review writer, he said I must rate his review (very useful) or I should not rate at all. That was a very bad thing for my sensitive moods.
I did not get discouraged I looked at the big picture, I am helping someone out there to make a purchase decision, I am telling someone how is the product for which he is really in need of information, till my membership on MOUTHSHUT, I never wrote anything anywhere, even on my own free website, I have many WebPages but I don’t want to write a thing and let it remain there without some interactive feed back from someone towards my writing.
My reluctance to rate reviews was not to be harsh with the hard work of people, I was really sad to see people putting lot of efforts and their reviews are being rated for other reasons than the reason of guiding people to make a buy decision. Slowly I began to understand the framework of this beautiful site; I saw so many categories are created on mouthshut and for a long time there are no reviews posted under those categories. I wanted from the beginning to make use of prevailing topics on this site. That was a greater challenge to write and required more discipline; I wanted to test myself on writing for the prevailing topics and categories.
This is the reason I don’t use MOUTHPAD much, what is the fun in writing about things we are comfortable with and creating our own topics and writing about them. Suppose if you have to write in real life than the topics cannot be provided by you. Your real test is when you write for the required needs of the masses. This is a bigger challenge and hard task.
This thought has been my drawback; I kept posting reviews where ever I saw some nice established products, which needed to be highlighted like woody Allen etc., When ever I posted a review I tried to give most appropriate recommendations to the products. It is tough for me to fit into something already present. But I must do it to bring out in myself the true writing capacities.
MOUTHSHUT is programming our ratings, comments; calculations of various figures related to all the things present on their database, these figures are supplied to the compare products analysis that is the real guide to the real consumers in the real space out there in India.
A service like this cannot be earning very much, who is willing to pay for just helping out consumers, I don’t think there are a lot of business houses who pay for such a service as mouthshut, this service will become useful only when it becomes huge and wide spread, I swear the first time I saw this site, I fell in love with the concept. I myself made many mistakes in buying things for my use. There was no mouthshut to help me out, if there are many animals out there in CYBERSPACE then mouthshut is human with a humanitarian goal, we will get SAWAB in writing reviews, helping others is a best good deed. SAWAB is enough compensation.
At present I am satisfied for what I am getting out of this site, I am able to test my writing and improve on it, already I have gained immense confidence in myself. RRC is the best intoxicant to blow us sky-high in cyberspace, now there is a trend to copy mouthshut everywhere on internet, yahoo is doing it and I saw many other sites. Star writers of the MOUTHSHUT will be in much demand on the internet soon. But I have tested few sites and I know there is no other site with such beautiful interactive programming, the links and buttons on mouth shut are the best of them all. I have not seen so many talented people on other sites : Matwalaboy, G-raptor, Praveenadapraveena, Chand_tare, Prasiddda, Modern_Mukul, Cousin2, Cticize, diver, Three2line (Kabir das ke dohay) Sndaya, Sweets_desire, Sunny_available, bharat5, patenik2, nitin and many more very wonderful people, where will you get these shinning stars !!!!!
Till these people are visiting mouthshut, this site will keep shinning with high reputation in the whole cyberspace, I am sure mouthshut has rich content because of the rich writers they snared and kept them chained thru programming on mouthshut.
I am definitely a liability on this site because of my impatience, but I am a work in progress, one day mouthshut will make me complete person, this is my reason to keep discovering new addictions everyday on mouthshut.
