Holi has always been a festival of colours, joy and a way to refresh yourself by having a great time with the people around you. But, there is also a negative side in celebrating this festival.
The things to keep in mind during this festival are:
1- As a part of fun, people put colours on animals, which contain harmful chemicals. These chemicals show very harmful long term effects on their bodies.
2- Everyone knows that a lot of water is wasted in Holi, but no one really wants to change this. Holi comes before the start of summer and there is always a water scarcity during summer in many parts of our country, but noone bothers about taking precautions before facing the trouble.
3- A day before Holi, that is on the day of holika dahan, it was religious in the past, but now-a-days it has become a trend to burn holika and as a result a large quantity of wood is burnt all over the country cutting down a number of trees which take years to grow.
4- The pollution caused due to all these activities is really a matter of concern, either air or water both resources are greatly affected during Holi.
From religious point of view, holi is a great and important festival, but people need to take care of the nature and act a little responsible in this respect.
