Crack your Exams!!

Crack Your Exams!!

Examinations have approached again with students running for tuitions, crash courses and what not. Examination guides still flood the market and students grab their copies dreaming of securing a merit rank. (Wow! that still makes my hair stand!).

Here I am to throw some light on tips you can use during your exams. These tips can be applied to almost all subjects in general

So let’s begin……

Hunger for Success

The fact that you are reading my review is a proof that you are not only eager to win success but that you are also ready to work hard to achieve that aim. Keep on fueling your hunger for success and God shall really bless you with abundant success.

Most Likely Questions

Nothing special about this friends. Just go and grab the copy of the previous year board question papers. Almost in all examinations, questions that have appeared in the previous years constitute almost 50 to 60% of your papers( of course, there may be exceptions!).You can realize this in your school/college exams itself. Person who sets the paper tends to go through previous papers and in the process repeats most of them in the paper he sets. Even new questions can be attempted using previously asked part.(Ek sath do shikar!!).

Write model answers

A model answer consists of a good presentation, required points and moderate length. If you have textbooks which are sanctioned by the state or university board then collect your points from these books only.

Definitions and Explain the term questions should match word to word from the textbook and not the guides (please).

Make the textbook your Geeta / Bible or Quran.

Time management

Let me explain this to you.

For eg. A 100 marks paper is allotted 3 hours hence for each mark you get 1.8 mins. In 1.8 mins you can manage to write 3 to 4 lines. Hence for answering a question worth 5 marks you need to write about 1 full-scap page in 9 mins (approx).Apply this and see the difference. Completing the paper will never remain a problem again.

Underline your main points

I agree that you know this but I still persist that you should do this in your exams. Reason is very simple. Remember not everyone correcting the paper is young and fresh. There are a few in their fifties and sixties who are assessing your paper. Help them by writing in neat legible handwriting which finally adds on to your marks. Imagine the situation where an evaluator has just had an argument with his wife and sits to assess your paper. If your handwriting isn’t neat then only a miracle can save you. Write big enough so that it is legible.

Points format

Write your answer in points. Make a separate margin for this if you wish.

For eg. Q: Heat is liberated in combustion of fuel. Explain. (2 marks)

Ans: 1. Contains carbon

Fuels contain carbon and hydrogen

  1. Undergoes Oxidation

When burnt in air fuels combine with oxygen and undergo

oxidation.

Hence/Thus/Therefore/So…………………..

Sequence of Answers

First attempt objective questions, true or false, difference between, letters, numericals. Answers to such questions tend to be short and yield full marks.

Lastly attempt explainations, short notes, essays etc.Shorten your answers if time tends to be running out of hand.

Be Cool

If the paper is easy, say to yourself that I am smart!!

If the paper is tough look around, if everybody is looking at you or here and there then conclude that the Paper setter is Smart!!

Never leave a question unanswered.

For eg if u have to write an essay on Mahatma Gandhi while u have studied the answer on Nehru only, then write everything about Nehru and conclude your answer by writing

the same work was done by Mahatma Gandhi!!! but never leave a question unanswered. Yes be a MoF(Master of Fakeology)

Believe in God and yourself

Charles Steinmetz, a dwarf with a frail body and hump on his back believed that he could make Lightening! He did! Then Tamed it!You too can do it. Offer a small prayer before and after the exams. This relaxes you a lot both mentally and physically and awards you with blessings of God.

That’s it. Please feel free for any additional tips. Also I would like to thank mindgames, thegreatone, matwalaboy, cousin2 and all those who sent their valuable comments on my maiden review on MS.

God Bless You!!!
