Oh my God ! remembering of Howrah, I see the mad rush of taxies and people.
The security and police of the station is in their own mood and hardly care what is going around, and if at all approached are not so helpful.
I can tell this through one insident where a cousin of mine had to travel to Mumbai and had entered through an open gate which was ment for movement of luggage, however people used it often for normal movements and the police hardly cared. Most of the time found sleeping aside. However when awake by mistake show off their authority at gate. Lol.
Besides the station being the biggest in number of platforms, its not that clean.
Pick pockets are very common at howrah station and also the hotels near it are very shaby.
Again howrah entrance and outside the station is so messy, waste management should be considered good here.
Apart frm that the sticky humid climate out here during summer sucks.
However after you enter the town, its much better a scenario for that matter. Places like Esplanade, Victoria, Salt Lake, Park Street etc would make you feel like a treat out here, with good restaurants, malls, and very good hotels.
