HP DV4-1240TX Laptop - Poor product & Bad service

I bought a HP DV4-1240TX laptop from E-Zone (NirmalLifestyle, Mumbai) on 27th of March, 2009. On 15th August, 2009 its LCD panel started showing pink colour lines at the bottom of the screen. Initially I thought it’s a problem in the operating system, however on searching over the web I realised that it’s an issue with HP laptop’s hardware.

On 27th August, 2009 I visited HP’s authorized service center Simtech Computronics Pvt. Ltd. (Nr. Saki Naka, Mumbai) (CASE NO. 4602952571). There the engineer told me that the screen will be replaced as it has gone defective.Since the screen was not available in their warehouse, he informed me that it will be ordered from Bangalore. Its been already 17 days (27.08.2009 – 14.09.2009) and there is still no sign of availability of the part.

Every time I call the service center, I get to hear the same response that the panel is not yet received and it may come in 2-3 days but no commitment is given as such. Today, I happen to speak to the same person Avinash (service person@Simtech) over the phone to whom I have already spoken to atleast 2-3 times during last week. On my insisting him to give me a definite date on which they will receive the LCD screen panel, he replies to me that "It is our internal matter and not your lookout".

After hearing this sshit, I couldn’t stop myself from rebuking him and telling him that "bloody I have paid 50 grands for buying this piece of sshit which started giving me problems in just 5 months, I’ve already lost over a half month of warranty, I’m the only one who is suffering and you are bloody telling me its your internal matter".

I have already written to HP sales manager, had numerous chat with their online help and customer care over phone but all in vain. I have already lost over half a month of laptop warranty and have no hopes to get my case resolved in near future. If the part is not in stock then I should get a complete replacement of the laptop. May be this is just a beginning and other parts may start giving way over next few months.

The intention of sharing my experience is just to make everyone aware that buying a high end expensive laptop from a renowned company doesn’t necessary mean that you have made a good choice. Specially a company like HP which has people with "damn our customer" attitude. I can imagine if I’m facing so many issues with HP’s service in a city like Mumbai then what people must be going through in smaller towns of India. One more thing about their customer care/service center is that they will never call you to update on the status. They will instead ask you to call them to take an update. I sincerely request people to read reviews about HP’s products before even considering to buy one.
