I saw the performance of the 8622 model(not in your list) on the day it was launched. I was so impressed by its look as well as the performance that I fell for it in the first instance.
I purchased it in August 2001 and the machine performed really well and all the components including the CD-ROM were functioning exceptionally well.It was only in May this year the CD_ROM drive (LITE-ON Make)stopped functioning and the HP service personnel at Bhopal pointed the reason to be a problem in pick-up motor. They expressed their inability to repair the same as the pick-up motor for lite-on make CD-ROM were not available. Ultimately I purchased a new CD_ROM of Samsung for my machine.
I realised late the problem of purchasing an MNC PC for which spare parts are seldom available locally. The HP people should look into these drawbacks of providing service to their products.
