Defective Model

I was very happy with this laptop for about 18 months, minus a few issues which I think had more to do with windows vista than HP itself.

However, about three months ago the laptop started overheating like crazy. After just half an hours use, the laptop would become so hot that I could hardly bear to have it resting on my lap. A few weeks after this, I started to experience graphic distortion and then finally it blank screened and would not turn on.

There are a couple of temporary solutions to this problem but at the end of the day the Nvidia graphics card is defective. This problem has happened to thousands of users of this and other HP laptops. HP eventually offered free repairs to selected HP notebooks, but not all of them, even though they were exhibiting the same problem. To pay$400+ for a quick fix to a defect which is HP’s, not the user’s, fault, is ludicrous.

I would avoid this laptop like the plague, apparently 40% of them fail like mine did. Search "Nvidia defect" for more information.
