HP Pavilion dv6000 comes with Windows Vista and Intel Core2 duo. It is one of the stylish, easy to use, laptops by HP in 2006. The quality HP provided during that time on the bases of money was satisfactory but not the best. It claims to be an entertainment PC(with a small remote that can be used for forwarding or stopping videos) but let me tell you, it isn’t that good. The laptop works comfortably if used for 2 hours and then use it after a break of minimum one hour. If used in this manner, it is durable but otherwise not.
First because it heats very fast. Owing to this reason, if I want to use this laptop, I often prefer a pillow under it. I have also noticed that the laptop hangs in between if I keep switching programs when video or music is being played. I was happy with it in the beginning but may be after 8 to 10 months, I had to decrease my speed of working with it. Within a year or two(I don’t remember exactly) the webcam was found to be not working. Then for using skype and other video conferencing, I had to purchase a separate webcam. The sound quality is also not up to the mark. It has to have an external speaker attached to enjoy the music.
The worst are the processor and the battery. In these years, I have changed the battery thrice and a year in between, I had to use it like a computer(continuously charging). If you are the one who may have to use it while travelling or most of the times without a power slot, please don’t go for this product as the battery drains very fast( as fast as 1 and a half hour). The processor is very slow. I have to run the antivirus and clean the computer every week to ensure that it works to my satisfaction for few days.
Its surely not a value for money as far as todays’ range of products are considered. It is also heavier than most other laptops and is not handy. Please check the reviews of other laptops before purchasing but frankly, just strike off this one from your list. HP provides good prompt service but charges high. The parts are also costly.
