Print, scan & copy

The All in One from HP offers a good deal for a home or office user who wants to do the basic things of getting stuff printed & scanned. I wouldn’t recommend anyone use the copy option of the printer unless in great need.

The Printer is a very good & can shell out very good quality prints at a decent speed of up to 15ppm for black & a slower rate for color. The color print is not photo quality but is pretty good none the less. The biggest draw back of the printer is its cartridge size which is very small & my black cartridge lasted for only about 150prints. But I got it refilled for about 50 rupees so it gives you a rate of about 25paise per page which is not bad at all for an inkjet printer. Unlike the HP cartridges which are highly priced the black cartridge costs only about 700 & you can even get it home delivered for free by dialing 3030 4499

Now coming to the scanner, it is a 19, 200dpi (optimized) & a normal one of 600x2400dpi with a color depth of 32bit(most of the monitors only support that much). But what disappoints me in the scanner is the scan speed, it takes a long time to scan a sheet of paper, it takes about 15-30seconds for a color image & almost the same time for the bW sheet as well. The more detailed you want the longer it takes. But the best part about the scanner is the software you get with it, the OCR software you get with the PSC is too good & you can convert your documents to text or HTML without typing any part or the document.

I haven’t used the copy option much since the scanner is slow & the cartridge can run out of ink rather quickly to your surprise. But again the software tells gives you an estimate of how much ink is left in the cartridge, so that you can make arrangements just in case you need 1.

Also the PSC comes with support for MAC & along with windows which it supports. It can also works with Linux & the CUPS system very well so that shouldn’t be any problem

For the price of about Rs. 4500 that it comes for its worth buying, it’s too slow for people who want to scan lots of documents in very little time.
