Can I Plagiarize That?

You could probably write my computer knowledge on a postage stamp! As long as it works smoothly I am happy.

Whilst I was shopping in one of Cambridge’s ‘new improved’ Tesco (One of the UK’s leading supermarket chains) stores when I came across the Information Technology Department. I love to shop. Like most people, I too like a bargain so I started to browse the shelves. I came across the scanner. Many names seemed strange and alien to me. That was until I came across the Hewlett Packard Scanners.

The scanner that caught my eye was the Scanjet 3300C. I liked the aesthetics of the flat grey machine, with two clearly labelled blue buttons on the front. Even that cannot confuse me! I was finally won over by the price, £60.00(including software). The price may now have decreased further but at the time it was a bargain!

Initially I did not use it. I was to my computer upgraded in January first and anyway, I also need a USB port fitted. I faced one problem though. The software that came for this machine was not Window’s ME compatible and an Internet upgrade was required. (The newer machines do have this upgrade). The shop that did the computer upgrade sorted out the software for me. Thanks guys.

I find that the Scanjet 3300C works incredibly fast. It is sensitive and scans very well. It suits Shane’s requirements and mine. It is great for home use but is a little small for offices. (Only scans A4 or smaller).

The colour scanner is easy to use. Lift the lid. Place the document face down. Press the scan button. Hey presto, about 30 seconds later the scan appears on the terminal screen. It is then ready for printing.

The software allows the user to modify the scan. Crop, resize and change the intensity of the print are some of its features. At this stage in the scan, the image can be sent to Outlook Express (no automatic button) or just be saved, to be used at a later date.

I like this scanner, but I have little else to compare it to. It is ideal to use for computer novices as it is simple yet produces good results. The instruction manual is simple and easy to follow, as is the connecting Scanjet 3300C to the terminal. The software is also easy to install. It suits my requirements for the time being anyway!
